Stitch N Scrap Mesquite, Nevada

Heading out of Las Vegas on Interstate 15, I took a five mile detour to visit this busy shop. Owned by Sharon Blakemore, this lovely shop has a nice selection of both fabrics and machines. It is in a small strip mall and very easy to find – for once Google Maps got me right to the door.

Fabrics here include Maywood, Moda, and Laurie Holt. The 500 plus bolts in the shop range from solids and blenders to some really great prints. There are jelly rolls, charm packs, and layer cakes. I love the display in the vintage china cupboard! Kits are also available, as well as patterns to match most of the samples on display. If you visit on the last Friday of the month, you can join Stitch N Scrap Night, a time of socially distant sewing and fellowship with fellow quilters with the added attraction of home cooked food. There is a nice selection of patterns, including Laura Heine collage patterns.

Stitch N Scrap is a licensed Brother dealer, as well as a Certified Kimberbell shop. This means Kimberbell Events, both online and in person, featuring the latest patterns and techniques. If you have and enjoy an embroidery machine, check the website for times for online events. Just because we are all stuck in our houses (again!) doesn’t mean we can’t get together and sew!

If you are traveling with a non quilter, show them to the “Husband Chair.” This was selected by the owner’s husband and is guaranteed to be comfortable while your friend or partner waits, with great light from the window for reading and magazines at hand.

Plan 20 to 30 minutes here.
